Blitz for Six: Brady, Belichick deny ESPN report of rift

BOSTON – The New England Patriots’ “Blitz for Six” begins Saturday against the Tennessee Titans, but Tuesday morning, however, the focus remains on ESPN and its report saying there is a rift between the coach, the owner and the quarterback.

On Tuesday morning, Tom Brady fired back.

He was on ‘Kirk and Callahan’ on WEEI and called into question many of the claims made by the reporter, including that he cheered the trade of Jimmy Garoppolo, calling that a “poor characterization.”

Brady also talked about his relationship with Coach Bill Belichick and said they have accomplished a lot together.

“You know, Coach Belichick has been such a great coach and mentor,” he said. “And I certainly could never accomplish anything in this sport without everything he’s taught me. I’ve been so lucky to play for this team.”

Brady also addressed one of the more bizarre claims in the article that he was upset that he hadn’t been awarded the “Patriot of the Week” award this season.

Brady said it’s hard to even answer that claim and there’s no basis to it.

Belichick also refuted much of the ESPN report during an interview Monday saying he has a great relationship with both Robert Kraft and Brady.

Belichick also said it’s his intention to be the coach of the Patriots next year.
