NFLHue Jackson rejoining Bengals coaching staff

The Cincinnati Bengals will be bringing back a familiar face in the form of Hue Jackson. According to Ian Rapoport of, Cincinnati has agreed to add Jackson to Marvin Lewis’ coaching staff in some capacity.

It didn’t take Jackson long to find a new gig in the NFL. However, this time he’s taking a backseat on a coaching staff with his role yet to be determined. The former Browns head coach had a forgettable stint in Cleveland as he led the team to only three wins in two seasons. All three of those wins came this season with Cleveland going winless last year.

As Rapoport mentions, Jackson’s title with the Bengals has not been disclosed. There’s a good chance Jackson could become the team’s new defensive coordinator with Cincinnati parting ways with Teryl Austin on Monday.

In Week 10, the Bengals defense was absolutely torched by Drew Brees and the seemingly unstoppable New Orleans Saints offense. Cincinnati gave up 51 points to Sean Payton’s squad prompting the dismal of Austin and retooling of the coaching staff.

It’ll be interesting to see if Lewis decides to make Jackson the new defensive coordinator and if it will be a much-needed fresh start for him after his experience in Cleveland.

The Bengals will now regroup with Jackson now in the mix and the team set to take on the division rival Baltimore Ravens in Week 11. Cincinnati is currently sitting in second place in the AFC North with a 5-4 record.
