The first coaching candidate to get a second interview for the vacant Cleveland Browns head coaching position happened on Tuesday. Kevin Stefanski was back in Cleveland to meet once again with the team’s coaching search committee, according to a report from Ian Rapoport on the NFL Network.
Stefanski, like Freddie Kitchens, finished the season as an interim offensive coordinator. The 36-year-old took over in Minnesota when the Vikings canned ex-Browns OC John DeFilippo was fired in December.
Rapoport extrapolated upon his report on Twitter:
Kitchens interviewed on Monday and has still not been given permission to talk with other teams for coordinator positions.
The most common theory circulating is that Kitchens will take over as head coach and Stefanski, whose contract with the Vikings is expired, will take over as the offensive coordinator.
